the training you would need is probably fine art and to study the natural landscape. this will then make it easier to produce higher quality art pieces that are more detailed

some software licences would be photoshop, krita (the art engine), 

the skills you would need is to be good at art, communication, a good work ethic to get your artwork done if it is taking longer than expected. You also need good versatility so that you can change your theme and other things when doing artwork for a specific brief.

Some equipment you would need is a good pc so it can run art engines such as krita and photoshop smoothly. Additionally you would need to use a graphics tablet preferably one with a screen on it so you can maximise the quality of your work.
