Final Major Project Post-Production
After finishing the animation for my character, I then had to re add sound because i could only import in my video. I re-added it to my exported blender render by getting the non rendered picture, that had the audio and adding it to this render.
Additionally another thing that I did was record a voiceover for Arthur so that he had a voice for the visual actions that he is doing. I then cut up his voice overs so that they are put into the right timings, so that the dialogue of both characters flows well in the short film.
I then exported the file to an mp4 file (H.264) and put it on a 2 pass to make the file have smoother playback, with a resolution of 1920x1080.

Some things that went well was the overall character design that I made in Blender. I am very happy with how the glass texture for Arthurs head came out. They looked very realistic, which was my aim for my character, to have a lifelike feel. One of my things to improve, that I stated on my miro board, was the detailed modelling and texturing, and I feel like I have progressed a long way since the start of the project in terms of character designing in Blender. This is because I have used many complex shapes such as designing a top hat from image references and designing fingers onto my character, using many new modifiers to model them.
Another thing that I learned was using physics modifiers. This was the first time I had ever used the modifier, so I used it on the gumballs inside Arthurs head which worked very well in the design of the character because it looked a lot more realistic than the previous iterations of gumballs (using an array).
One thing that went really well was the footage that I recorded, I think the recording came out very crisp and clear to the audience, not too out of focus or overexposed. I did this by noting down the PowerPoint explaining all the different components of the DSLR camera and fine tuned the camera so that the video looked the best it could be. Additionally I tried to make use of all the different shots that was stated in my shot list but, in the end, I didn't use the 180 rule as it would be quite confusing to the audience as it is quite short dialogue, so wouldn't make sense cutting really quickly to each of the characters. Despite this I used different shots to help explain to the audience what is going on in the scene, which made the video a lot easier to follow.
In addition, something else that I improved a lot on was compositing. I had done minimal compositing before this project but have greatly improved upon it. For example, compositing the texture for Arthurs head to make it look glassy was the first time I had ever done that for a material, and I think the output of it came out very well as it looked very lifelike and realistic. To add to this, I did all of the textures on Arthur through compositing as I found it a lot easier than unwrapping the character and going through substance painter. The textures on Arthur came out really well from all the compositing, I really liked the texture on Arthurs body, with the crinkle like texture. Additionally, I used compositing to get the video that I recorded, into blender which i then used to animate Arthur over

Despite using the physics modifier, I couldn't find out how to keep the physics modifier active whilst I animated my character. As my character moved, the gumballs just stayed in the same place, as if the head was still there, so I had to change the balls so that they stayed in their gravitated position and moved them by animating them with the head. Instead I wanted the balls to move with Arthurs momentum but I couldn't find a way around the error.
Another thing that I could've improved on was the animation of Arthur. The walking animation for him went quite well but I think I could have improved upon when I interact with Arthur. To change this maybe, I could have put more movement into his whole body, as I was talking about when I said he has more animated reactions due to him being a cartoon.
