Final Major Project Pre production

Today I have done a Gantt chart to help me with the planning of what areas I am going to cover day by day. This will help with the overall project management which is good as it helps me work at maximum efficiency.

Today I have filled out a risk assessment of the location I have chosen which is at Dan Handcock's house, as he has ample room to record in his house. I have outlined the most hazardous risks that may happen while recording, so will take care to prevent them from happening.

Another thing that I have done today is a location scouting as this is imperative in the pre production planning of the FMP. I filled out the pros and cons of filming at Dan's while also stating what extra equipment I may need. Additionally I have stated what time I am recording if permission is needed etc.

I have done a mood board to show which characters I am considering to use in my FMP. There is a range of characters such as Six from Little Nightmares, Benson from Regular Show, BMO from Adventure Time and Gumball from The Amazing World of Gumball. With these characters I will enjoy doing exaggerated squash and stretch techniques when animating the character that I choose.
I really like the idea of incorporating a cartoon character into the video that I make as it will be very entertaining doing the exaggerated expressions and movements.

The character that I am thinking of developing is Benson from the regular show as I can animate him to have fire coming off his head because he is a very hot headed character with a short fuse. This will be good to animate due to all his textures, especially using new textures such as glass will be a challenge
.
I took inspiration from the other character in the Regular Show, pops, who has a somewhat similar appearance to Benson with the oversized head and body shape. I really liked the idea of giving my character a top hat to make my design more unique.
Despite adding the more realistic approaches of characters from Little Nightmares on my mood board, I decided to opt out of using that design approach as it would be harder to animate expressions than using a cartoon, overexaggerated approach of animation.
A reason I didn't choose Gumball was because there aren't as many interesting textures that I could do on Benson, including glass textures and body textures. On Gumball there is only two or three different texture that I could explore and additionally his animations are not as interesting as Benson, like when he changes into a red colour when he gets furious.

The reason why I didn't choose Fin or Jake is because I think their designs were too simple, I wanted something to push myself to use new textures and design principles. Additionally there isn't much room to change the character design for making my own original character, while keeping in theme of the original character.

Story board for the FMP:

For the first shot I wanted to introduce the audience to the scene and situation by doing a long shot and the character walking onto scene with paperwork. The long shot will provide the audience with context of the location.
The second shot introduces the problem of the short film, him dropping the paperwork in front of Arthur.
For the third shot we see Arthur getting really angry, to compliment this, I decided to make it a low angle shot to subconsciously make Arthur the angrier and more dangerous looking. This makes him the antagonist of the short film.
With the fourth shot, I was thinking of using the 180 degree rule for some of the character conversation to not make the dialogue confusing to the audience.
On the fifth shot, I wanted to do a close up on my character to say a common phrase that Benson would say, "You're fired", and is the main part of the film so had to make it stand out from the rest of the shots.
In the last shot, the character tires to reason with Arthur, so did a close up eye level shot so you can see the emotions play out when he speaks.

I updated my Gantt chart to make it easier to follow and see. I changed the Gantt chart because it would also be easier to create contingency times while working on my project.

Here is the shot list for my FMP.

Here is some of the dialogue I am going to do between me and my character, Arthur.
