What is Darkest Dungeon?
The game revolves around a central vehicle, The Stagecoach, carrying you through the journey to The Mountain. Additionally The Stagecoach can be upgraded throughout the game by The Wainwright at any Inn.
The Stagecoach is one of the main aspects to the game as it is the only way to travel and carries the player, the heroes and the Flame which effects the difficulty of the battles. If the Flame falls below 40 brightness, you get attacked by more challenging enemies. The Flame has modifiers that change the effects of heroes and enemies.
The main point of the game is to defeat your enemies and continue on your gruelling way to The Mountain as it is the source of all the madness in the Darkest Dungeons world.
Heroes
Heroes are the characters used by the player. The Heroes are divided into several different classes, specialisations that define their abilities. The different abilities and skills are all to fill in different combat abilities. At first the player only has a limited amount of Heroes to choose from and can upgrade the heroes abilities over time by increasing the players Profile Levels. The player can assemble these characters to progress towards The Mountain, the final destination.
The player can find and collect trinkets throughout the journey to The Mountain by defeating the opponents. There are Hero specific trinkets to give the best enhancements to your heroes.
